Next, we configure the final limiter. The final limiter limits the sound below a certain threshold to avoid distortion.
The Final pre-limiter's pre-amp slider can be used to amplify the sound before passing it through the Final
Limiter.
If your goal is to achieve a very loud sound, configure it such that the Final Limiter output
displays indicate overshoots most of the time (overshoots are displayed as black bars starting from the right).
However, make sure that the overshoots are as small as possible (more overshoot does not make the
end result louder).
If your goal is sound quality, configure it such that overshoots are displayed only sporadically.
To reduce ill effects (pumping) caused by overshoots, you may enable the PRE checkbox to
pre-limit the sound using another method which causes less artifacts, but does not fully remove the
peaks.
The time slider controls how fast the Final Limiter responds to peaks. Low values (0.01 s, 0.02 s)
may cause distortion on bass sounds. High values lead to a lower average volume, but may sound
smoother (less pumping).
