The HARD LIMIT filter is placed at the end of the processing chain. It removes any remaining peaks from the signal that could cause distortion due to clipping when playing back the sound.



Normally, the Final limiter makes sure that all the peaks are removed. But the Loudness and Output filter are placed behind the Final limiter and can cause new peaks, so when they are used HARD LIMIT should be turned on.

This means that HARD LIMIT should be turned on in the following situations:
  • When the Loudness filter is used and post amp slider is set at or just below 1.
  • When the Output filter is used and post amp slider is set at or just below 1.
  • When either of those filters is turned on and the signal is being prepared for FM radio transmission.
